Preclinical Study

BonoFillTM bone graft for the treatment of critical-sized bone defects

One of the major challenges in the field of bone regeneration is the treatment of critical-sized bone defects. Due to the large gap, the body is not able to heal itself, and current treatment options include mainly autologous bone grafting, which is a limited solution predominantly due to the limited volume of the bone graft available for harvesting.

Bonus BioGroup demonstrated in preclinical studies in sheep critical-gap model the efficacy of BonoFillTM in the tissue regeneration of large-segmental bone gaps of 3.2 cm in the sheep tibia. The healing process was followed by X-ray imaging and close monitoring of the sheep’s well-being and health condition. The results demonstrated the successful closure of the gap within 8-12 weeks following BonoFillTM treatment, with no signs of graft rejection.
